Frequently Asked Questions
The initial consult is our time to get to know each other. Typically, these meetings are about 15 minutes and can be done over the phone or video call. During this time you can ask any questions that you may have for me and I will ask you some screening questions to make sure I can offer the services you need.
The first appointment will be the intake appointment. I ask that clients complete the intake paperwork prior to their first appointment so that I have time to review it. During the first appointment I will ask you some general questions about your life along with some questions about what you are hoping to get out of therapy. During this time you are also welcome to ask any questions that you may have for me.
Ongoing sessions will vary based on a client’s needs, preferences, diagnoses, and treatment goals. We will work together to determine what session structure and interventions are most helpful for you. Often, I will begin sessions by checking in with clients so that they can share any updates about their week or topics that have been on their mind. After checking in, I will work with clients on their treatment goals using a variety of therapeutic interventions. At the end of the session, I will typically check in with clients to see how they are feeling, discuss the things that they would like to work on before their next session, and confirm their next session.
This is something that really varies from person to person. The length of treatment can vary depending on many factors including a person’s goals, diagnosis, symptom severity, and duration of symptoms. During your intake, we will create your treatment plan and can talk about the ways that we will track your progress.
You can cancel or reschedule a session by calling or emailing me. I ask that clients give at least 24 hour notice if they need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations and re-scheduled sessions will be subject to a full charge if not received at least 24 hours in advance.
If a client misses their session or arrives more than 15 minutes late to their session, they will be subject to a full charge. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you.
I am unable to provide an exact estimate for how long you may remain on the waitlist. The timing of available openings depends on when current clients complete their course of treatment, which is based on individual progress and clinical needs. As such, the wait time may vary significantly from person to person. I understand that waiting for services can be difficult. If you feel you need more immediate support, I encourage you to seek services from another provider who has current availability. For more information about the waitlist, you can see the waitlist policy here.
